Operated at Greengates, Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent ,England - producing Earthenware and Jasper-type ware.
Adams, Benjamin (born 1787 died 1828), Greengates, Tunstall, Staffordshire The only surviving son of William Adams of Greengates inherited the firm at too early an age to attend adequately to its business. Being of poor health and unfortunate in his attempt to develop trade with America, he was forced to sell the Greengates works in 1820 to Meir of Tunstall.
The firm's manufacture of jasper had ceased between 1805 and 1809, and without a master to supervise manufacture its wares degenerated both in quality and quantity. Even the blueprinted wares in which Benjamin Adams specialised varied a great deal in quality although finely engraved, many by William Brookes.
The Adams family bought back the Green-gates works about 1858.
