The inscription reads:

epitaph

Elijah Fenton ye poet
to his fathers memory.

Chest Tomb. 1694, restored in 1888. Stone.
Chest with balustrade-like pilasters at angles, and
inscriptions on the long sides, in memory of John Fenton, flanked
by cherubs heads and drapes.
