China manufacturers at Market Street, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, England.

  • The partners were Samuel Hartshorne, James Furnyhough and John Adams.

  • James Furnyhough left the business in September 1853 and it was continued by Hartshorne and Adams. 

  • On the 27th January 1854 the business of Hartshorne and Adams was dissolved - all debts due to and from the copartnership to be received and paid by John Adams. 

  • Around July 1854 John Adams was declared bankrupt. 

  • John Adams must have died during the second half of 1854 notice for the payment of first dividend to the creditors of Hartshorne and Co., Bankrupt of the were made against the Estate of John Adams. The London Gazette, 13th February 1855. 

NOTE: It is probable that the Executors of the Estate of John Adams, in the form of Elizabeth Adams, continued in business as china manufacturers in Longton. 
At sometime John Lorenzo Johnson joined the business of
the Executors of the late John Adams until the partnership was dissolved in February 1973 and Johnson continued on his own account.
