Manufacturer of earthenware at Lane Delph, Stoke-upon-Trent, England.
  • William (b.1785) was the eldest son of the potter Miles Mason. Around 1806 Miles took his three sons William; George Miles and Charles James into business with him. 

  • In 1811 William Mason left the partnership and set up manufacturing on his own account.

  • In 1824 he left pottery manufacturing, moved to Manchester and set up a retail business.

Beaded frame series

 

Attributed to William Mason - this series consists of a series of rural scenes. The backstamp consists of an octagonal beaded frame (from which this series gets its name) with the name of the view.

Dessert Plate - Tyburn Turnpike

Tyburn Turnpike, which today is where Oxford Street (London) meets the Edgware Road. Hardly a rural scene anymore.
