Lewis Henry Meakin was in partnership with John Farrall - their business was 'Earthenware Manufacturers, Dealers and Chapmen'.
The family emigrated to Cinncinnati, USA, in 1863 by way of Canada.
Lewis Henry Meakin had a son by the same name who was a well-known landscape painter in America and taught at the Art Academy of Cincinnati for forty years and also worked as the curator of the Cincinnati Art Museum. His other son Charles J. Meakin opened a sucessful confectionery business in Cincinnati.
